Peeps People in Pennsylvania

As many long-time readers know, my Carpatho–Rusyn origins means my family observes Orthodox Easter, which usually does not coincide with what I call Catholic Easter—because the other part of my background is Irish Catholic, so growing up there were two Easters. Now we just observe the one and so later today I am headed back to my maternal ancestral roots in western Pennsylvania for a long weekend.

But before I head out, I figured I would share this map of each state’s preferred Easter candy from Innerbody Research. Their post also includes some bar charts about the enthusiasm of Easter candies via search data and Pennsylvania is second to only Michigan. But really, people love maps.

Growing up in eastern Pennsylvania, obviously Peeps were a big deal in our household. It helps that neither my sister nor myself eat chocolate, so that meant more Peeps and other fruity, sugary sweets.

Hopefully you enjoyed your Easter holidays whether you partook last weekend or are doing so this weekend.

A brief housekeeping note, because I will be out in the mountains and not back until the following week, expect fewer posts next week.

Credit for the piece goes Innerbody Research.
